Concerns about dangerous driving

STBEX is an appalling driver. He passed his test 3 years ago. I hated being a passenger with him driving and I know others made comments.

He has, in 3 years, crashed my car and his latest car, as well as writing off a further three, all by driving into the back of vehicles - one rubbish lorry, one stationary queue of traffic and 1 unknown.

He wants to have our son for 2 sets of 5 days. 1 concern is he is refusing to tell me where he's going or who he is going to be with (I haven't met his gf and don't really want her spending time with my son) but it's the driving that is scaring the shit out of me.

Is there anything I can do to stop him driving our son?

Has it been to court for access?

Sanity assuming your Ex has PR you are not able to say where he goes in the UK and who your DS sees when with him. I had same feelings about DD meeting OW and took legal advice.
Regarding the dangerous driving it is also very tricky my Ex I thought was drink driving with DD in the car I raised concerns in writing as I was required to do under the children's act, but was brushed off. It took him being arrested with DD in the car for me to make changes to contact because of this.
All very frustrating, but until proved otherwise the law deems that they are fit parents.

Nope. I'm trying to keep things amicable but he's being more and more unreasonable with money and communication that I've had to say that all communication now needs to be through solicitors.

I don't know what's best to do but I am now seriously concerned about our son being in a car with his dad.

Thanks lonecat. STBEH is currently being pursued through the courts for one of his accidents for a substantial sum of money. I don't know if this would be enough proof?

If you could document everything then it might be enough.... But you will need proof

Unfortunately I opened post that wasn't mine (was 100% accidentally as name wasn't clear on envelope) - that's the only reason I found out about this claim against him.

STBEH told me at the time there was no effect on driver, no damage to car and everything was sorted. How wrong he was. He has lied to me for years and years about everything.

Does he have appropriate car seat?

Yes. He was using the original one that was too small but I made him but a new one.

I know he uses his phone to text/call when he drives which explains why he keeps driving into the back of other cars/lorries but I'm worried sick about DS.
