Maintenance/contribution to bills

I am recently (~6 weeks) separated from my husband due to his unreasonable and unfaithful behaviour.

What is the standard/average/expected contributions to bills/mortgage/maintenance that he should be paying?

£900 came out of the joint account today paying off his payday loans so I've had to pay the mortgage by myself. All the other bills bounced (car insurance/tax, TV license, gas, electricity etc). I've had no money from STBEH towards our son at all.

Use the CMOptions calculator to get the correct figure. I assume he is no longer living in the property? And get a free half hour with a solicitor as soon as possible.

Thanks Head Doctor. I used that and it said £50 a week but I have a text saying he'll contribute £70 a week. But he's refusing to give me anything as he's contributing to bills. Except all the bills bounced so I'm having to pay them all in full.

Going to see a solicitor ASAP but not very easy to organize.

Are you claiming everything you can claim? Check the entitledto website. He's isn't obliged to contribute to bills as well as providing maintenance. Don't wait around with the maintenance as they don't backdate.

I didn't do about that website. Thanks! Will have a look.

If he needs to give £50 a month don't expect more than that. He sounds like a tosser so a text isn't going to mean much I'm afraid.

He doesn't have to contribute to anything other than child maintenance. You'll need to top up with benefits and/or your own wages.
