Child Maintenance application and Non resident parent

Hello advice needed please. Can the non resident parent (NRP) set up a formal arrangement to make payments via child maintenance services to the resident parent (RP)? Or is it only the resident parent who can apply. Any links I find seem to refer to the resident parent making an application. Situation is things are a bit acrimonious at the moment and I am advising NRP to make formal arrangements to pay RP set amount on a regular basis - rather than informally which leads to tension for both. RP will not discuss whether or not they will apply because of heated emotions.

What are the issues. I would advise .Pay into bank account so you have a paper trail.

Yes NRP can open a case however to avoid the fees (which are considerably higher for the NRP) it would need to be a direct deposit case which since the NRP is willing to pay it's a bit pointless IMHO.

Paying bank to bank with clear references that it's CM payments should be sufficient. What is the problem?

hi Thanks
I think RP will demand more than NRP can afford. So if RP knows that it is formally arranged then RP is more likely to accept, the amount.

There is an online calculator the NRP could use to work out the minimum payment due, anything that can be afforded over and above it, great but if it's not possible then as long as the minimum payment is transferred they are keeping themselves in the right.
