Dc is flying Malaysian airlines please talk me down!

I've name changed for this as it will out me but am a regular poster.

My son is due to fly Malaysian airlines on Saturday to see his father who lives abroad. He is flying with his grand parents.

I'm really uneasy about this. His father has refused to look at other options with regards to changing flights etc.

Can someone please talk me down?

It wasn't the airline that was the issue, it was the route taken. I'm certain that in future no pilot will risk encroaching on any airspace that isn't 100 % safe.

I'd be concerned that it was the airline who chose to fly across that airspace despite warnings and the fact that other airlines were not flying there. It's not good that they didn't put passenger safety first.

But I suppose they will be on guard for doing the best job they can do now so it could be the best time to be flying with them.

Have you checked the air route they will be flying? If it is over an area of danger I think your are within your rights to say no.

As someone with parental custody, your ex has to have your permission in order for your dc to be taken out of the country. If you refuse to give your permission he will have to apply for a court order.

I can understand your worry but Malaysian airways are probably more cautious than any other with their recent history.

He was offered to change to another carrier at the time of check in.

Air route has been changed. They are offering full no quibble refunds but he can't get a different flight apparently. I just don't want to make this decision.

Ds really wants to go hasn't seen his dad for a year. I'm so torn.

My husband said that the crew were extra attentive to all the passengers and he felt safer on that flight than the ones previous as he knew they were all being extra vigilant and cautious.

That said I wouldn't want to be in your shoes either. I know that I panick every time dh flys and it's a regular thing

I love Malaysian Airlines and I have flown with them before and think they are much better than British Airways. If I and the time and the money I would be massively taking advantage of the cheap they will no doubt be doing now.

I flew when..think it was American Airlines or something like that...were being targeted or kept failing/crashing (long time ago) they security was so bloody tight so I expect the security will be even stricter now on all flights and especially Malaysian airlines.

I know its hard not to worry but I expect he will be very safe and try and remember more people are killed in their own home a year than on planes.
