Adopt a Grandma?

I was talking to a friend recently about this as DD doesn't have one - mine died and her dad isn't around and his mum isn't interested and lives in NZ.
My friend said that apparently there is something for this, perhaps a site? Thought I'd post on here and ask as I think it is a really lovely idea!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I am sure I heard of it somewhere..My Ds is desperately short of family too.

Maybe we could ask on Gransnet? Grin

I had assumed they would be CAB checked or whatever if there is an actual site?

Age Concern ( now Age UK) used to run the Adopt a Granny scheme so it maybe worth searching there.

Lioninthesun · 26/04/2014 18:43

Oooh! I just found this! www.adopt-a-grandma.co.uk/
That's this evening's entertainment sorted then - time to pick a Granny! Grin

Oh, doesn't look like it took off somehow.
So much for the evening's entertainment!

Did you find one Lion ? :)

starlight1234 · 05/05/2014 22:17

I looked but not deeply. It looked like you get given a granny..To be honest it seemed a little like family given one and stuck if they are awful so I avoided.

Lioninthesun · 05/05/2014 22:30

Hi! Yes, it was a bit ambiguous on how it worked, so I thought I would just keep my eyes peeled for local lonely looking old ladies!

Ha. That leaves me with a funny image, of you harassing old ladies who already have 15 granchildren :)
