I wasn't supposed to be taking my wee lad to the gates on his first day all on my own. I wasn't supposed to be standing tonight taking pictures of him in his uniform all by myself.

Noone understands.... everyone thinks I'm ok. Everyone expects me to be ok.

I don't want H here at all.... but I feel so alone.

Oh Toothache I am so sorry. I understand- even though you don't want to be with him, it is hard to have to do things on your own. Here, have a hug . And some kisses from me xxx

threelittlebabies · 21/08/2006 22:08

yes, meant to ask, how was his first day? How exciting for him, and you

tortoise · 21/08/2006 22:09

Sorry to here that your feeling alone.
You get to do that special 1st school morning and there will be other mums that you may soon get to know.
I bet he will love his 1st day.

Toothache · 21/08/2006 22:10

hi Tassis. Its not even that I wanted H to phone... he can't anyway due to his bail conditions. But he could've phoned my Mum. Or his Mum could've phoned me or my Mum.

It's not even that I can't cope on my own, I can and I'm happier that way. But I've NOONE to share this with that trully understands.

Toothache, it's a very emotional day, I had it today too. Just remember that you are the best mummy and you and your ds will have the memory to share together about today. Look at your pics as a proud mummy( I've been doing that too) and if you're anything like me, wonder where your little baby has gone!

pinkpyjamas · 21/08/2006 22:14

I hope your DS has a wonderful first day at school, and I'm sure he looks lovely in his uniform. Best wishes to you both for tomorrow.

seb1 · 21/08/2006 22:15

You could post his pic tomorrow for us all to admire. Has he gone to sleep ok. This time next year you will be saying thank god the holidays are over . Is he in a full day tomorrow? I'll be thinking of you when DD starts back tomorrow

mistressmiggins · 21/08/2006 22:51

Toothy
I can understand - my DS starts 7th Sept and ex still hasnt asked about school
I know I will proudly take photos of him and probably even send them to ex but would be nice for them to take an interest

I read your post and didn't know what to say, Yorkie.

Hugs to you and toothache. Neither of you should be doing this alone.

CaligulaCorday · 21/08/2006 23:22

These milestones are horrible. Five years on, I still get the occasional pang about doing it on my own and how this wasn't the way I thought it would be. But if it helps toothache, the pangs get less as time goes on. DD is starting school in September and until I read this, I hadn't even thought of how different it will be to what I would have imagined. I guess I've got used to it. Don't know if that's a good or a bad thing, but I suspect on balance, good. Good luck for tomorrow.

mistressmiggins · 21/08/2006 23:29

god Yorkie - worse for you as you didnt CHOOSE to start school alone
hugs to you & your DD

hugs to toothy too - will be thinking about you both on the first day

my DS is excited
my ex hasnt even asked when first day is

Toothache · 21/08/2006 23:36

Aw Yorkiegirl - Your situation makes me realise what a total wanker my H is. He's missing this through choice. Thanks for posting. Good luck for 5th September.

Good luck to toothys ds today on his first day at big school!!!

And cherish those memories you have, bugger ex he can do without - his choice. My boys go back to school today too,ds2 was bullied badly before school finished for summer and ds1 is severely autistic so the return to school for them both is huge................has ex phoned or asked about them nah of course not hes 'working'.
you know what illhave my gorgeous kids and photos of the day and wont even be nice enough to send them to ex,i used to send photos all the time but now 4 years down the line im like well,if he interested he can come see them and take his own bloody photos

Rambling no so will go and get the camera out!! I think we should have a thread with all the photos of kiddies returning to school today !!
Will post mines later today !

tassis · 22/08/2006 10:54
