Ex won't deviate from his hard fought EOW contact, no flexibility, no swaps, nothing. Even if it means that he misses out on spending his own birthday, fathers day etc with the kids.

Which obviously means that they've had to miss out on some important family events.

Step MIL has a significant birthday coming up which falls on one of the weekends when the kids are with their dad. My step sis and family are all travling quite a distance for a whole weekend of family celebrations and I'd resigned myself to the fact that my kids would miss out.

But step sis has just emailed to say that they are bringing the celebrations forward a full week just to make sure that my kids are included

I'm lucky that this first question my family ask when planning something is "which weekends do you have dd?" If they know if want her there.

Kids are adapting. He won't let them go to any of their weekend sports activities or parties etc and I am fairly sure it will all bite him on the ass in years to come. For now, it's a matter of helping them through it. Friends and family are so supportive.
