Lonely

I have been single for 18 months through my own choice-I ended my marriage to an abusive partner. While I in no way ever want my ex back or miss him, I have started to feel lonely.
The novelty of being single has worn off. All my friends seem to have partners. I have been on a few dates but nothing has come of them and have been on dating sites but the only men I seem to attract is ones who ask for me to send them photos.
I have what I thought were good friends but more and more it is becoming apparent all they want to do is go on and on to me about themselves and their own lives.
Sorry for the negative post-just feeling a bit down about always being the agony aunt and getting nothing in return xx

ah I'm sorry you're feeling down. could you join a group or club of some description? arrange a night out via work or friends?

Hugs to you. No advice really as I'm there too. I have bought a course online off groupon for £29 that should keep me occupied. All my best friends are married and see weekends as family time etc. Getting them to spend time with me is hard work.

Have you searched for single parent groups in your area on Facebook? Or looked to see if there's a Gingerbread group near you? No advice on the man front I'm afraid, not having much luck myself!

I've given up on men. just concentrating on my two boys now and once they're adults i will be alot older. but i am free to come and go as i wish. maybe im just longing for my independence back. Have recently started learning to play an musical instrument, self taught, I really enjoy it. you could try a new hobby or enrol in a course of your choice. maybe that might keep you occupied.
