Been a lp for about 7 months now and today I put a new shower curtain up and I'm mega proud of myself!

It has been in my cupboard since before ex left he never got round to it so today I was clearing the cupboard out found it and put it up myself!

Sense of achievement even if it is a bit silly Smile

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yay go you! I'm rediscovering myself now that exh has gone. Yes it's awful he's gone, but I'm loving getting myself back. I painted my bathroom yesterday and today I've waxed my bedroom door. Jobs that have needed doing for ages but oh isn't a keen DIY-er... And I always seemed to be looking after the kids.

It's only when we're on our own that we truly know who we are - that's my Sunday afternoon bit of wisdom lol!

I have a list of jobs I'm determined to do before Christmas...it's great knowing that there's very little you actually 'need' a man for! Apart from the obvious Wink

Sasquatch75 · 20/10/2013 14:52

Mummytasha11 haha yes! ;)

kinkyfuckery · 20/10/2013 22:03

My ex did naff all, so I never really got to do anything 'new' post-ex Wink

muser31 · 21/10/2013 19:17

i unblocked the loo today all by myself! dd stuffed kitchen roll down it and it got very blocked!

farrowandbawl · 21/10/2013 20:47

Unblocking the loo, although a really unpleasant job is one of the most rewarding. Now I take the drains apart on a regular basis and give them a good clean out - just to make sure. Grin

My collection of tools and drills is really something to be proud of now. It is worth spending as much as you can on tools - you really do get you pay for with them.

I bled all the radiators in the house and increased the pressure in the boiler! Hard to believe that for the past 8 years since ExH left, I've always felt the need to ask him to do it. God bless Google and YouTube - that's all I can say!

I love these threads.

Well done everyone!

Since becoming a single parent last November my highlights are.

Learning to drive

Buying and maintaining camper van, checking oil, water etc

Reestablishing friendships with the friends I was isolated from

Fitting the new toilet seat

Fixing back gate and garage door

Mowing back garden

A tidy (enough) house

Rock on ladies Grin

A fridge that doesn't make me feel ill.

rainbowfeet · 24/10/2013 12:46

We'll done everyone.... I'm not typically good at Manual stuff but since I've moved into my new house...(too far for my dad to do stuff) I have conquered my fear of the loft & been up there to store stuff, also unblocked a toilet (why do kids stuff so much paper down them Shock) also lit my open log fire for the 1st time!! Little things but I'm proud of myself! Grin

fuckerandbawl · 24/10/2013 12:49

It's a good feeling Rainbow isn't it?

Youtube has saved me a fortune.

ilovepicnmix · 24/10/2013 12:55

You have all inspired me! My DS posted some cotton buds down my shower drain. Off to Google remedies.

fuckerandbawl · 24/10/2013 13:03

Good luck ilovepicmix.

Let us know how it goes.

ivykaty44 · 24/10/2013 14:50

when I became a LP I hadn't long moved and after baby was born I decorated the house, the great thing was when a financial advisor came round and complimented me on my flooring - he then asked who had done it and how much I had paid as his was mega bucks Grin so he was ver surprised when I told him I did it myself with an electric sander and it cost me £10 quid each room. He was Envy

Then best thing is though I got to choose, no compromise on decor it is my choice and if I want a red wall or a green bathroom - its up to me Smile
