Apart from TC/Inc Supp etc what else can i get now?

I know all the usual benefits such as free dental, income support, increased tax credits, reduction in council tax. What else can i get someone mentioned free milk and vitamins for kids and fruit but what else and do you know how i can get milk etc?

School lunches, transport and uniforms?

I always thought it was HV for free milk

If your household income is below £14,400 and you don't qualify for Working Tax Credit then under 5s and pregnant women qualify for 7 pints free milk per week.

Our milk tokens just started to appear when the tax credit people realised we were in this situation, but there must be places you can get an application form from - HV maybe?

Im on Inc.Supp and child tax credits.Milk tokens are sent automatically if you have any children under 5.
also get free eye tests and voucher can be claimed for glasses if they are needed.

How do you use the milk tokens?

I take mine into my local co-op. Milk men take them too if you have 1.You would probably have to find out which local shop to you took them.Think Some supermarkets will.They are worth 7 pints at a time.

With milk tokens you can get formula milk if you have a young one and/or your family won't drink 7 pints - basically one box per week (or you can get 7 pints of milk - at most supermarkets - although you have to get the 7 pints per week all in one go!). Each area has a designated place where you can exchange them - mine (Brighton) is a local clinic place. When you get the vouchers through there is a phone no you can ring to find out where you can exchange them. I get no help from ex and get income support, child tax credit and child benefit. You may also get an NHS exemption card which gets you free prescriptions. If you aren't sure what you can get do you have a job centre plus near you? Mine were really, really helpful about what I was entitled to.

i dont get milk tokens i am single parent work 20 hours a week, get family tax credit, have kids under 5 etc, and they tell me i am not entitled to them and no school lunches either, dont know what you have to do to be entitled to them....

maybe you have to be on income support to get them. doesn't seem fair somehow does it?

If you qualify for Working Tax Credit you don't get milk tokens. Dh is only working 12 hours a week, so doesn't meet the 16 hours a week minimum to qualify for WTC, therefore we get milk tokens.

The people who do the tax credits sort the mikl tokens out but they are usually a bit behind. They ended up sending me a giro and then started the tokens.
