Taking the higher ground...

After a meltdown from DD2 about going back to school next week it turns out she has been having some bullying about me not working from two boys from school in her class and having single parent (not blaming kids as they have obviously picked this info from elsewhere).. So as not to drip feed, she moved to this school a year ago, I have no idea who boys or parents are (so they should have no idea of me or my business), how do I resolve this. Should I be dancing round playground with my ID badge :-)

I would ask her new teacher if you can meet her and have a chat about it. Hopefully the school will be supportive and keep an eye on things. (Speaking as a teacher, I would take this seriously and chat with your dd, making sure she knows she can talk about this at school and following up any worries she has).

Hopefully these boys may have matured a bit over the holidays.
And who knows, the smug marrieds they may have heard things from may have split up over the summer!

Magic and Rita, thanks for your replies (my internet has been down so not been able to respond). I have said to DD2 to if she has any more problems this year to let me know so I will see how things go. Despite my non-drip feeding comment it turned out I did as I have actually been back at work for over six months which was why I was so upset about it all but I have decided that I if people want to gossip that's up to them and to rise above it (and that will also be a good life lesson to teach DD's).
