Considering a paid for website like match.com, anyone tried them?

Just that really, last time I registered with pof it had me running for the hills so I am hoping a site you have to pay for thins out some of the wasters and losers.

Thing is I am on a tight budget. Part of me thinks for god's sake sppend a little on yourself but then the other half worries it's a waste of money.

Mysinglefriend.com
I met DH on there. Ask a friend to do up a profile if you can?
My friend did it for me without me knowing which was nice. Check it out.

Hmm I do have friends (honest Grin ) but I think I would be too embarrassed to ask them to do my a profile. Blush

I will have a little nosy at the site tonight as not looked at that one before.

Nothing embarrassing about it! Grin
Just ask a close girlfriend who won't judge you. It's such a normal way to meet people these days and honestly I think, far more preferable to a drunken night out, a workplace romance or a friend of a friend. Wish you all the best!

I've met my new DP on match and he's the love of my life, thoroughly recommend it! ?

Friend of mine just got engaged to someone she met through Match.com. Thinking of signing up myself!

I met my DP on Dating for Parents - been together 4 1/2 years now. I found Match.com a bit intimidating to be honest.

Good luck!

I just looked at the prices and it seems pretty good to me.
I just joined ok Cupid and am talking to 2 guys on that at the mom( meeting one next week (schedules permitting!!) but if it doesn't come to anything would definitely consider it!
Anyone used eharmony , a friend told me she met her DP and recommended it. Live in a smallish city but close to 2 larger ones if that's relevant !

A friend of mine met her husband on The Times web site. I have tried a fair few and not met anyone though. I am currently on PoF...wish me luck

I met my DH through match.

If you do the free sign up bit but don't subscribe they usually send you a free three or five day trial.

I'd recommend reading some of their 'how too' meet your match literature. Lots of valid pointers about being serious about meeting someone. I liked the advise about always having three people you're actively interested in. If you meet one and don't hit it off, you've already got another date ready to be lined up. With three there's less of a temptation to play them off against each other.

Another bit of advise I liked was about being quite judgemental. If you have to put lots of effort in on a date to make it fun then is it really worth pursuing a relationship?

Oh and don't forget the safety stuff including possibly getting a cheap P
AYG mobile for dating contacts till you're ready to let them into your life a bit more. You can always bin the sim if you meet someone with the pester factor.

Oh I have a tip! Meet on a lunch break where possible. That way you have an excuse to escape if its bad, and if it's good you get to arrange dinner for later!! Grin

YourHandInMyHand · 08/08/2013 15:47

I've still not had chance to sign up to anywhere but thanks for the other suggestions. Smile

I have very little time to myself in the summer hols, so may wait until DS is back at school. No point chatting to people when I have no time to meet them.

I like the idea of meeting for lunch.
I do already have a PAYG phone that I've held onto exactly for this purpose after having to change my phone number due to a persisitant guy I'd been on a blind date with. Hmm
