I just spoke to my solicitor. Apparantly, I can't put my hb on the birth cert unless he is there at the time of registering. As we were married when baby was conceived, he does have parental responsibility whether he's on the birth cert or not but it's up to him if he chooses not to be involved. If he doesn't but changes his mind later on then he'll have to go through the courts. Also, she has advised me to give the baby my surname so that if I were to re-marry later on I can change it, otherwise if the baby has my hb's surname it's pretty much impossible to change. So, at least I know where I stand now.
