2.9yo going for first overnight.

Ds is going for his first overnight at the weekend.

I've told his dad his normal routine and will pack a few things he will need. Is it better to have some familiar stuff from home (pjs, books etc) to make the link between the two houses or should I insist ex sorts these out himself?

I would send him with a favourite teddy or book. And I'd ask his Dad whether he has pyjamas etc. or if that's not possible I'd just pack am overnight bag with everything he needs.

Do you have something lovely planned for yourself while he's there?

Yeah I would agree to just ask, if in doubt though send it. I remember going to court in regards to contact and in my ex's statment it said that the pyjamas I sent for contact was dirty, the judge jumped on this and suggested if this was the worst accusation they could come up with then i must be doing a good job with 5 kids, the judge then ordered that they provide all pyjamas and not me so that saved me a job haha. but i do still send a bag for each childs change of clothes for the day after.

I have issues with his dad not stepping up and not providing food, nappies (the list goes on...). He is happy to be a dad as long as it involves very little work on his part and plenty of adoration. However, I want ds to feel comfortable. It is so tricky. I will send stuff this time and if it goes well and becomes a regular thing I think I will make it clear he needs to provide some things for him.
