Hi I would like advice As can't find it on line! Presently my ex has our 14 month daughter when I work two days a week he picks her up first thing plays with her for 5 min or so then drives her to his place for brekfast! He also does this once every two weeks to give me a day off!!! Do you think it's ok to take her before her breakfast almost feels wringing whipping her off???
Also he wants to start divorce proceeding I don't think I'm entitled to legal aid and I have no idea where to start! He has a very good pension that I'd like to claim for some of it to help me bring up our daughter. Advice appreciated x

I think if she is used to going to his for breakfast then that is fine. Sounds like a good arrangement.

Have you spoken to him about the pension? does he pay child support?

As long as your daughter is happy with this arrangement, can't see the harm. Why not talk to him if you are unhappy and suggest that he stays a bit longer or comes to collect a bit later?

There is a good book called divorce for dummies which will talk you through the basics, you are very unlikely to get legal aid now but can you afford to pay for a one off advice session with a solicitor to get you started?

If you and ex have a reasonable relationship you can try discussing it between yourselves or try some sessions of mediation if you can afford it - always best to avoid court if you can, it is expensive and emotionally draining.

Start by making a list of all your known assets and liabilities and consider what you will need to maintain yourself and daughter.

I think most solicitors do a free first consultation (30 or 60 mins) I think. Prepare a list of everything you want to know in the first session, to get the most out of it.

Don't see the harm of him taking her for breakfast. If she's hungry before he gets her back to his, can you give her breakfast before he arrives?
