Sharing Christmas

How do you do it?

Its DD's first christmas. ExP has proposed that he picks DD up when she wakes up and drops her back at 4. She goes to bed at 7 so there's no way I'm happy with having her for 3 hours in the evening and that's it!! But as much as I resent having to share Christmas equally when the rest of the responsibilities are definitely not divided equally I know she will have a good time there so do want to arrange something. How do you split it?

DD spends alternate years with each of us (she spends a week from 23-30 Dec with one of us, and spends the remaining Xmas hols with the other parent)

she lives with each of us equally too, so it may not be relevant to your situation.

Disney how do you find Xmas day when dd isn't with you? And no exP has DD for a few hours on Saturdays that's it

Christmas is celebrated when she's here!

I tend to treat Cmas Day as me time when she's not here, although I did take some goodies into the local emergency services one year, which was fun!

I'm living with my DP now and he has his DCs on the same schedule (his is court ordered) so we have a big family Christmas on NYE if they're not with us on Xmas Day

We used to share the day, I'd have dcs until 4pm on Xmas day, XH would pick them up and have them until 6pm boxing day.

Last year XH decided now he had a stable relationship/home etc he wanted to alternate Christmas'. I wasn't happy with the idea but he is their parent too. So he brought dcs back at 10am on boxing day and we had our family Xmas then.

Xmas day was spent with my in laws, having a laugh and getting tiddly. This year dcs are with me (which I'm very happy about as dc3 is due dec 16th and I think they would miss out if they missed Xmas with their new sibling) and XH will collect them at 10 am on boxing day.

I hope you can sort it out for your dd.

ExP comes over on christmas morning for an hour to bring presents

and that's pretty much it

he has been offered more but doesn't 'do' christmas

suits me as I love christmas but I do worry what the DCs will feel about it once they get a bit older

I had planned for him to have them last year as it was a 2nd christmas appart and I'd had them the first year, and I was going to have a second christmas for us on a different day, and spend the 25th in bed watching dvds!

I used to have the DCs on the morning, got to watch them open their presents from me/my family. Then XP would pick up between 12-1 and take them to his where they'd open their presents from him andhave christmas dinner. He'd drop them back here between 5-6 in the evening and I'd have a buffet type thing prepared which we could pick at in the evening.

We do live in the same town though so it was possible for us to do this.

My ex is just like sausage's and doesn't really do Christmas so I always have them and ex comes round with pressies if I invite him or gives them another day if not. DC1 is 12 now and the issue of why they don't spend it with their dad hasn't ever arrisen yet. I guess I'd split it with him if he pushed as that would seem fair. But he doesn't so I don't.
