Hi
I am considering going full time now my son is at school (currently work PT) and want to know if i will be financially better off? I have a mortgage and do not receive any benefits other than working/child tax credit and 25% off council tax as live alone. I have heard they can do a "better off" calculation? has anyone seen an advisor to discuss this and was it helpful?

I have, I was required to see one once every 6 months when I was unemployed. They are pretty good IME :)

They are on the whole, nice and helpful.

Definitely worth seeing.

If it's just a tax credits issue you could phone the helpline and save yourself a trip..
