My ex has told me that before he can pay any child support he has been told by the CSA that he would need a paternity test. Is this true? Theres absolutely no question as to the baby's father (mores the pity) but I'm a little concerned about putting a baby through all this unnecessarily.

I don't think so. Mt dh pays his ex thriugh the CSA and he has never had a paternity test. Mind you, ther split up 10 years ago....things could be different now.

Bullshit. I could pay you maintenance if I wanted to (and you were prepared to accept it). Anyone can pay anyone else maintenance if they both agree to. There's no law that says I have to have a paternity test. He can have a paternity test if HE has any doubt that he's the father. If he doesn't, he can demand a paternity test in order to delay paying maintenance for a while. Which is what he's doing by the sound of it.

I had a feeling that was the case. I'll mention it to my solicitor when I see her. The thing that make me laugh is that he actually thinks I'd tie myself to him for the rest of my life for the sake of £42 a week (which apparantly is what the CSA have told him he'd have to pay) if I didn't have to!
