Am trying and hoping to get a support group up and running.
Please reply if interested and any ideas how to get this idea off the ground.
All comments/advice gratefully received.

does your local childrens centre have one for lone parents? you could approach them if not? what do you have in mind?

Hi Chocoraisin

Thanks for reply, we do have a resource centre but its one-to-one support on set days. I have asked them before but seem to have no interest in setting up a support group.
Would love to meet people in a similar situation, esp on Sundays find that the hardest! where we can give each other support/advice/encouragement for a better way forward.
Am in Co Tipperary, would be great if we can generate interest and perhaps arrange couple meeting places?.
Please spread the word, am sure I am not alone in this and would greatly appreciate any support/advice with this

Have you looked at Gingerbread? They are a charity for single parent families and may have meet ups in your area.

Your local womens centre may have ideas too.

All these support groups, therapy etc seem to be in the working day and expect you to be able to go at the same time each week. There seems to be no facility for if you are holding it altogether in a full time job and antisocial hours that change each week.

Hi, all comments advice greatly appreciated. Just heard back from Gingerbread, they have no facility here in Ireland and no other contacts. It can feel disheartening but when I am in better health I intend to be active in trying to make changes. They have great support in Uk, should be same here.
May even try to get my own group up and running!!.
Please keep posting, and anyone in Clonmel, Cahir, Cashel surrounding villages or Waterford/Kilkenny let me know and will try to organise something.
Thankyou! x
