Holidaying alone

I am a lone parent to 3. Oldest is 10 and baby is 1 in 3 weeks. We have not been on holiday in five years and I feel like my kids are missing out. I was thinking of booking a holiday next year. But I am worried about it just being me and the kids. How do other lone parents find holidays.

View it as a big adventure.
Whilst I enjoy holidays with others, the ones when it is just me and DS are priceless.
I was scared about the first one - got a cheap short one in case it was rubbish and we had the time of our lives. Came back feeling really empowered.
No one to answer to - free from everything else you normally have to do - it is real quality time as a family.

Its tricky with such a wide age range isn't it, finding ways to keep them all entertained, but you manage at home, so no reason why you couldn't have a great holiday.

I'd second the idea of a couple of small breaks to ease you into it gently. I've taken my 3 camping on my own this year (well I say on my own, we met other people we knew at the campsite, which was really helpful for putting up the tent etc)

I was worried about it, but I realised that actually without my miserable ExH there it was much more relaxing and the DCs all had lots of fun. We're going again in a couple of weeks and I'm looking forward to it, not worried at all.

Holidays don't need to be sun sea and sand, anywhere that's a change of scenery will be perfect for creating happy memories!

You could look at Gingerbread or somewhere for specific single parent holidays, but actually if you just want to spend a few days with your own DCs you can go anywhere you fancy.
