Youngest at nursery 3 hours a day soon, how shall I fill my time best?

My 5 year old moves up to Year 1 in a few weeks and my 3 year old will starting nursery five days a week (3 hours a day - free funded). Well at least that's the plan, he's such a clingy boy I highly suspect this will be reduced to just one or two days!

Anyhoo, give or take the 20 mins it will take to walk him there and back, that leaves me 2.5 hours a day, five days a week.

What do you recommend I do with my time? I have thought of taking on some work as less than 16 hours does not affect benefits, but I don't drive and live in a village so work would be limited to this immediate area.

Or, should I take on some voluntary work to pad out my CV.

Or, should I consider study? ie Open University?

Two and a half hours a day is not an awful lot of time really, but I'd like to be productive about it. What do you do?

Put your feet up and have a cup of tea? Grin

Why not start doing an OU course?

I had all sorts of plans when my dd started nursery but the time just flew by & nothing much got done.

You could volunteer however i think you might struggle to find a job that will fit around nursery times.

I second the OU course plan. You could do an OU Openings course, I've just done one!
