My DD2 (8) best friend 2 doors down has been taken into care with her wee sister (well removed from her mums and I think dad has her but not sure) and now my daughter is afraid to leave my side wont go to her dads as usual or out with her gran or anything. She hasn't said why but I am sure it is because that she is scared to leave me. Other neighbour has been sectioned and her DD's (young teens and a baby) have been sent away too. I think DD is scared that we will be separated. She has become so clingy and is obviously upset. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Perhaps you need to have an honest chat with her and explain that there were very good reasons why best friend had to go and live somewhere else for a while (obviously re-assuring her that these reasons don't apply to your situation). She's bound to be upset and clingy for a while, I think, and perhaps all you can do is let her cling for as long as she needs to. She may not be able to tell you exactly what is going through her mind, but at least if you have a conversation about it she will know that you understand why she is feeling anxious at the moment. Horrid situation for all of you.

I have tried to talk to her about it but her wee mind is so confused. Problem is I have to work, so I have to leave her, but she is really upset. I had an early shift on sunday and on sat night she phoned from dads breaking her heart please please i want to come home, so I said yeah but dad has to be here 8.30 latest of course he drew up ten to nine so i was late, so I have to get her to stay at dads sometimes. I wish I could just stay home but its not an option Sad
