Universal Credit....

Can someone tell me the rules please? I've heard from one friend that unless I work over 24 hours a week I won't be able to claim any working tax credit at all. Another says that doesn't apply to Lone Parents. If that IS the case, i'm doomed because I can't get childcare for a 40 hour job and there is nothing about for 25-30 hours (not that there's much about anyway).

16 hours for LP and 24 for a couple was what I was told

Thanks Olympia. Ideally i'd be looking for 25 anyway but I can't even find 16 at the moment. Unless I took up welding, plenty of that around

It's come in already for couples, just changes to tax credits, nothing to do with the universal credit that's coming in next year - but Olympia is right - it's only couples that have to do 24 hours (between them). Lone parents just have to do 16.

I thought that universal tax wasn't in yet but told I was wrong. If it's 24 hours between couples I can't see why that wouldn't be achievable.

Between a couple even?...swinging doesn't come into it I don't suppose
