but in summary she decided to have no more to do with him, and still hasn't. He and his wife split and she stays in contact with DD, which is nice. He still rings once in a while, or sends alternately nice/nasty texts - but he saw my Mum a couple of weeks ago, they had a chat, he didn't even ask after DD. He left a message saying he had moved into his own place, there was a room for her, she could have a key and come and go as she pleased, he had been sober for 4 months etc etc. DD said it was painful because she would so dearly love to believe him, but knows it is all lies.
Got a call from the young relative yesterday from the original thread. She is a lovely girl but has continued to urge DD to see her Dad, saying she'll regret it in the future, etc. She herself has given ex chance after chance, forgiven terrible behaviour. Her DP won't have him in the house.
So, she went over to see his 'new house', he got drunk and hit her DS (6). Backhanded him off his feet. She is furious, very upset. Says she will never see him again, he's dead to her, that she should have listened to DD all along.
Can't believe I spent YEARS encouraging DD to have contact with this scumbag. Keep telling myself he has changed/got worse over the years but the reason I left (finally) was because he hit me. What an utter, utter wanker.
