Receiving maintenance through CSA - moving abroad

My ex is not interested in his son, never even bothered to come and meet him. He is however paying some maintenance through the CSA.

Now, I can't cope on my own any longer and I'm about to move "back to where I came from" and i'm wondering what will happen to the maintenance? I believe i would need to get a court order of some sort to be able to apply for the maintenance but i don't know how to make this happen??? He is not named in the birth certificate and hasn't formally admitted being the father other than agreeing to pay the maintenance (and therefore not taking the paternity test) But somehow i don't think this will be enough evidence for the court.. So if he doesn't pay voluntarily will he be forced to take the paternity test or is he just going to get away from paying it at all?

Any advice would be welcomed (even just directions to useful websites)!

No advise at all, but I am also interested as may one day also go back to where I came from. My DS sees his father sporadically but has not seen any of his father's family for years and I would love him to have contact with more extended family.

Sorry Blush I may be being a bit dull here but why will moving affect him paying as he is now through the CSA?

Ahhh is it over seas? Smile

Yes it's over seas (EU country, if that makes any difference, probably not)

No depending on the country and if it's in the EU you should still be able to get maintenance order. You may however, need to go via a court to get to this. I guess you will need to check the welfare or citizens advice for that country. HTH

I moved abroad last year ; CSA stops but you can apply where you move to through the local child support system and if it is a REMO country it can be sent back via the UK courts for enforcement.
