When i first became lone parent 8 years ago I was asked the identity of childs father so they could chase him for maintenance but as he was so abusive I didn't have to give it. Now I'm with a lovely person and have child together but not living together yet....but I have never been asked who her father is, is that normal?

Sorry I'm confused. Are you claiming child support off of your youngest child's father?

They don't ask you to identify the non resident parent anymore though.

No, we are in the process of moving in together, but that makes sense if they've stopped asking about i tsince first time around. , because I remember being interogated last time. As is we've just worked it out betwenn ourselves.

I think they've changed the rules recently so no longer deduct child maintanence from your benefits. So it's up to you if/how you want to arrange maintenance, the state no longer has any interest in ensuring that you do.
