Ex, CSA and redundancy - query please

My ex text me today to say he's been made redundant. He is recently married, does that mean his new wife's salary should be taken into consideration? It feels really mean but I'm struggling financially and still have a child to financially support. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

From previous threads on here I don't think that is the case now, sorry.

No it doesn't.

If he's not working could he take over more child-care?

bucketbetty · 01/12/2011 21:09

Thanks both. I didn't think that was the case but I guess I was hoping it was. No he won't take over childcare. He's an incredibly difficult person (note how I don't say man). He may shock me but I doubt it very much. He has very little time for his son and resents having to pay for him too. I'll just get on with it the way I always do and try not to allow it to affect me too much. I'm limited on how much I can cut back too.

Sorry bucketbetty, you've got no claim on his wife's income. I hope he finds a new job soon.

You could always ask him if he got a redundancy payout and whether he would be willing to use some of it to continue supporting his child. From what you say about him, I can guess what the answer to that will be.

Thanks Corlan, I bet you can guess right. I won't even get a response to the text I sent asking if he is in a position to continue to support his son. We'll manage, we always do. Smile
