hi,

Wondering if anyone can give me bit of help. Divorced 10 years ago and over the years maintanence has reduced to a third of the original amount. Always been paid and reduction was agreed by me (mug). Asked my ex if we could review the amount after all this time as dc much more expensive now and he basically ranted on and on. Askingif i wanted a new sofa Hmm and although i remained calm refused to discuss it and is now ignoring me. Have decided i'm worth more respect and won't let him bully me and have filed a claim with CSA. What happens next? How long until he knows??

Thanks

They will get in touch with his employer for his home address and telephone number (they won't use what you have given them!) Then they will phone him and send a letter, your claim will only start from the date they manage to talk to him. Mine took around 1.5 months after this (but there was a delay because they used the details his employer had which was out of date, they should have used the info I gave them).

He should hear from them within the next few weeks.

Was child maintenance part of the overall divorce settlement? If there was a court order for child maintenance predating March 2003 the CSA has no jurisdiction.

When I looked into it - it was from the date the claimant first contacted CSA was what I found.

The court order was issued in 2004 but I've sent it so they can check it. Feel so much better now that it's been handed over to a third party. Hopefully that feeling will stay. He's not self employed but don't know where he works so don't know if that will delay it. Was told today it starts from when they contact him. Should i expect any paperwork anytime soon? Will they want to know anything about me? Very odd to be using them after all this time.

All they need from you is your childrens details, your name, address etc and the details for the account you want it to be paid into.

Vey straightforward for me too. XP had been with the same employer for years, I knew where he lived and he had managed to leave various bits of paperwork here that helped the CSA (bank info, National Insurance number).

I called the CSA at the start of November and had my first payment just before Xmas. Not had any problems 2 years on .

It won't hurt if you keep a note of every time you call them just in case it goes pear-shaped. I have a lovely spreadsheet.

It does work sometimes Smile.
