Is this ok?

I think not.

Kids aged 4 and 2. So 'best' solution is him + 2yr old in 2 man tent; 4 yr old in 1 man tent next to him.

But really. That's a no, isn't it?

blu - sharp intake of breath. VANGO? no... that is not expensive enough for ex.

oh and there is never any need for sherpa and oxygen. not when you are superhuman, as he clearly is. i nearly expired on a trek in nepal because he insisted we didn't need porters, so we carried our own stuff. we were the ONLY people doing that. and we had to ascend twice as fast as all the people who did have porters. which meant i got really quite sick. there's a surprise. but don't you know that porters slow you down and insist on having breaks. the outrage...

He sounds like the idiot who took children of that age on the small boat.

NG - if my young child wandered off in the middle of the night because he was sleeping in his own tent and was found by other campers I would be mortified and prepared to be labelled neglectful.

Rima,

I feel for you and your DC's.....he sounds like an ARSE.

I'm surprised the kids are allowed in his precious tent.

Personally I have my own expedition stuff and then all the family stuff, as I can recongise they have different required standards (and I don't want my nice Scotland winter proof stuff ruined). In fact we're going on a 3 week road trip with 9 days camping and have a brought a 8 man tent for me, DH and DD Grin. Things are cheap in America and won't have rain to deal with (hopefully)

Good luck and enjoy some Wine on me when the decree absolute (or whatever it is) arrives :)

Aha - PenguinArmy has the key: Tell him you are concerned that the kids wrestliung around in the expedition tent and falling against the walls etc (kids DO that in tents) and going in in shoes, and scraping sharp toys against the walls, and spilling food and drink etc etc might damage his v expensive tent, and it would be better to bu a cheap Vango Wink and cheerful tent Grin

doesn't take you lot long to get inside his head, does it?

last time he took DS camping (DD was still baby and he didn't want to take her, so i had her and he took DS on his own) he didn't stop chanting 'no shoes in the tent', 'no drinks in the tent' etc the whole time. it would be much more relaxing for everyone if he just bought a scabby family job. but he won't. he says he will look at them but he never gets round to doing anything, so it won't happen. and i can't face buying a tent and giving it to him -that would just cause too much stress, as it wouldn't be the right tent etc etc.
