Might be a silly question...

but do you get your ex a birthday card and/or present from yourself? We are on good terms ish.

My ex and I have only recently split after 10 years (2 months ago) and I have no idea on the protocol on these sort of things as this was my first relationship

It's his birthday next week and I'm not sure what to do. Also my parents aren't sure if they should get him a card...he is the father of their grandchild afterall.

Sorry if it seems stupid

I'd say if things are civil, then you could send him a card if you want to, in the way you might send a card to a work colleague. In many ways, that should be what you now have if you have kids with him.

You should certainly do card(s) from the dc(s), as whatever age they are they should be able to make some sort of mark in the card to show it's from them.

Just mho, obviously.

In a similar vein I'd say it was no bad thing for your parents to get him a card also. Again, keeps things civil and lines of communication open.

What you do this year may be setting your self up for years to come. You may have a new partner, he may have a new partner next year, how would they feel about gifts and cards. If your on good terms ask him what you should both do about this.

I think presents and cards from DC are fine, but not from anyone else. My friends bought my Ex Xmas presents after we split. I found that a bit of an insult tbh, however my split was by no means amicable, so a different situation.

Thanks x
I think a card will be fine then.
