Sad Just a pretty normal day. Went to Tesco. Had to go to a meeting at DS1's school. Then picked other 3 up from school. Came home, made tea and had chocolate cake. Plus i have a bad cold and feel pretty crap so, no, i haven't really had a great day but no different to many other past Birthdays as a lone parent with no family nearby! Didn't even get a card from DS1 or DS2! Only present i got was from DD2 and i was with her when she bought it from pound land. Very sweet of her as it was her own £1 that she spent. Smile Oh well! Might as well go to bed.

Happy birthday love! I know the feeling. My birthday was in December. A week before, my partner had dumped me. On my birthday, the kids were with their dad, my fire had broken and I was snowed in. I spent most of the night wailing silently (and not so silently) on my own, freezing. Then to cap it all, ex partner texted saying "Whatever you are doing, I hope you're having a good time x" Er....NOOOOO
Was a bit of a low point but things have cheered up since then. Occasions are always a bit poignant and sometimes sad when you are a lonely lone parent (I am too). One lovely thing that happened on my disastrous birthday was that some of my MN friends set up a special disco thread for my birthday and lots of people put tunes on, so I danced whilst crying! Sometimes support comes when you least expect it.
Happy birthday for earlier. You are doing a great job. Single mums are fab :)
And if you need any support, come over to the Dumpling No More 4 thread on relationships. Lots of lovely girls there in the same boat x

My last birthday I spent crying because my landlord of 4.5 years had given us notice to leave our house and I had no money for a new deposit, month's rent or moving costs and I had no idea how/ where me and my DS(9) would end up...this year I am determined to save up do something good with friends, I'll organise it but as ever with LP's if I don't nothing will happen again...my son bless him brings me a cup of tea and my slippers. Organise something nice for yourself next year and every year...

my ex husband moved out on my birthday, went to bed crying saying " the sooner this day ends the better". the year before that he had taken me to new york for my 30th and we were happy. that was almost 4 years ago, and looking bk it was probaly the best birthday ever, didnt seem it at the time admittedly, but was the best present he could have given me. so what i,m trying to say is never mind theres always next year even if its just a little tea party for you and the kids, or if theres a chance of a babysitter, get the girls round for a few drinkies. oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY x
