This is a feeling I know much about!!! Try thinking what one thing would make it feel a little better (this could even be a sandwich!!!). What's the best thing thats happened today?

this is the email I am sending to the CSA is it ok?

Please accept this as a formal request for the Child Support Agency and any related organisation to provide me with a paper copy of all information the organisation holds about me ().

All paper copies are to be sent to the following address:

I am formally requesting this information under the Data Protection Act and expect to receive this information within the designated timescale or I will not hesitate to take this further.

To ensure this is dealt with, I will also be sending a paper copy of this text to who I believe is area director for the Dudly office

Thanks in advance

Is that OK?

Sounds fine MOH but can i be nosey and ask why you are sending it?

FrumpyGrumpy · 26/10/2005 14:14

I know nothing about the CSA and so can't comment on the content in any way but the wording sounds absolutely fine to me, firm and to the point. Good luck, hope the day gets a bit better.

MassacreOHara · 26/10/2005 14:17

Because they won't send me anything,

I have written to my MP a third time but now she won't do anything unless I provide her with copies of all the documentation I have.

They will not send anything out in the post to me. So I thought at least this way I can see what they are storing on my file.

They also say that frequently calls aren't logged so I'm hoping somewhere in the rubbish they send me there might be a call record!

I'm looking for anything that will help me.

Blimey, wasn't it a good idea to set up the CSA! They're as thick at the Benefits Agency people!

Sorry hun, no help just support.

MassacreOHara · 26/10/2005 15:49

now on with the best task of the day.

MassacreOHara - I just had to reply to your CSA problem! I'm probably breaking the official secret's act here and could probably go to prison but oh well.

I used to work in a call centre for the Inland Revenue. It was a huge site and thankfully I never worked for the CSA, which is just one part of the IR. The horror stories we heard were awful and we preyed we were never sent to the CSA or tax credits helplines because the 'system' is an absolute shambles and the callers were understandably angry. To say the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing doesn't even begin to describe the mess, and as for the people running the show, well, to put it politely, they couldn't organise a knees up in a brewery!

All calls are recorded but unless you take the person's name, turret number and note the date and time you don't stand much of a chance of being able to refer back to the conversation. If you ask for this information and the call handler won't give it to you ask for their manager's name and say you will be making a formal complaint. You will also quite often be given conflicting advice because the legislation and guidelines are constantly changing and it's impossible to keep up with it all. There's no easy answer to this except keep a record of everything that's been said and stick to your guns.

I'm now going to get my bag packed ready for my holiday in Wakefield prison!

wallopyCOD · 27/10/2005 16:25

ooh masscre an insiders view!

MassacreOHara · 27/10/2005 16:36

Thanks J but alas you've told me nothing I didn't already know. Reckon I could work for them with no training at all.

I was once the phone being told that x wasn't in the office and x called my on my other phone.

I would hate to work for them.

Just realised that 'designated timescale' should have been 'Designated Timeframe' balls!

You're right about being able to work for them with no training at all! It mostly is and it's certainly sink or swim. That's part of the reason things are so bad!

wallopyCOD · 27/10/2005 16:41

hmm dudley is misspelled

MassacreOHara · 27/10/2005 16:42

Part of me pities the peole who work there and part of me thinks no don't it has got to be at least partly their fault. They're the ones who lie and fobb me off after all. ho hum! That was yesterday's little problem.

Today I am sitting in a n office where you could cut the atmosphere with a knife - it's so nice.
