Don't give up. It's completely understandable that you want someone in your life. What went wrong with the internet dating?

passmyglassplease · 29/01/2011 07:49

squareheadcut, how long have you been single?

and are you saying that you didn't interact with those on the dating site at all!

I met my partner online, so I know it is possible, just hang in there or give us some more info.

There is a lone parents dating thread on here, I was a founder member by the way Wink, but have since graduated Grin They are are a really helpful bunch and give loads of good advice and moral support, have you seen it?

monkeyflippers · 29/01/2011 08:44

Why not try singles nights. I think meeting people face to face is more effective then online dating.

aseriouslyblondemoment · 29/01/2011 14:05

which site did you use squarehead?
like pmg i also met my dp online, same site iircSmile
i dabbled with it for about 6 months and i have to say that at times it was depressingly tedious but at others highly amusing!

BringOnTheGoat · 29/01/2011 20:54

which site did you use?

lilacisinlove · 29/01/2011 21:03

I found the love of my life, also on a dating site - there is hope!

teahouse · 29/01/2011 21:13

One of my friends met her very soon to be hubby through internet dating.

Me however, I've been in the same situation as you SHC. You have my sympathies.

I've given up on the whole dating thing after years of not finding anyone suitable; plus fine alone really (well most of the time)

BringOnTheGoat · 29/01/2011 21:34

WHICH SITE!!?!?!? [desperate emoticon]

ninah · 29/01/2011 21:47

passmyglass hello Smile

ozzywiz · 29/01/2011 23:37

Im here heehee

squareheadcut · 30/01/2011 01:02

thanks for the messages - it was guardian soulmates. I interacted with loads of guys on there - tried lots of different approaches but none of them wanted to even meet me!!
it was so demoralising and i actually thought i was OK before that!
yes - singles night , suppose i should do something like that, it's just all so shamefully shameful.

i didn't know there was a dating thing on here - i'll check it out.

have heard mixed reviews about that site tbh but like everything it depends upon where you live and the number of subscribers etc
have any of your friends commented on your profile?

SmileyMily · 30/01/2011 17:36

square, is 'where are all the fit, interesting and available me?' number 29 Shock

I joined that thread about 6 months ago and enjoy the company there very much Grin, worth it even if the dates don't roll in

I met my DP on GSM but prior to meeting him I did find the whole thing tough, had to grow thick skin as advised by the FIA laydees

girliefriend · 30/01/2011 19:44

It is depressing I am in exactly the same boat, it is slim pickings out there imo!

squareheadcut · 30/01/2011 22:49

i have not really dated anyone in 5 years (only one night stands) . my sister looked at my profile and she just said "well, that's you" , i am based in London and most of them on there were like single no kids perhaps.
I just think i am emitting some hormone which is actively repelling any potentials out there! bad news man
