I have a date on Friday with a guy I met recently. He has suggested we go to the cinema but I'm not sure what film to suggest going to see. Does anyone have any good ideas??

Ps. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this!!

Hi Frazzle,
Not sure about what film, Toy Story 3 is good but not sure it is date material. BTW why go to the cinema? Surely a date is about getting to know one another? How can you do that in the cinema? Have a nice time whatever you decide. Smile

You may be right there. He did also mention a meal so perhaps that would be a better option. I'm really nervous!!!

I think going for a meal somewhere not too formal is better, that way you can chat and get to know each other a bit.
When I went on first proper date with my now dp (2 years ago now!!) I went thinking that if I had a good time and we ended the evening as friends then the evening would have been a success, anything beyond that would be a bonus.

Good luck, hope it goes well and dont forget to let us know what happens Grin

A meal would be much better. What are you going to wear??! so excited for you! It'll be fun!

Niceguy2 · 20/09/2010 18:44

The problem with a meal for a first date, is that it's a lot of pressure. What if the conversation runs dry after a few minutes?

The problem with the cinema is that you don't really get time to chat.

Is there anywhere that does stand up comedy like Jongleur's or the Comedy Store? I find that makes a better first date. You get a bit of time to chat, you have a laugh and its a damn site more original.

Have fun

Hmmm, thanks for all your ideas. Not sure what to wear beautiful. I'm getting my hair cut and coloured tomorrow though. I get it done every 8 weeks so particularly glad it happened to fall this week lol!!! Will let u all know how it goes!!

He he, I wasn't sure if anyone would actually see my post which is why I didn't write very much!! Well, we went for a lovely dinner at a mexican restaurant where we just chatted the whole time and found we had loads in common. We then went to a local bar and sat outside listening to some live music. After about half an hour he finally plucked up the courage to hold my hand which I thought was really sweet!! He kept complimenting me all night on how nice i looked and had already asked me on a second date whilst we were at dinner which I took to be a good sign. We then went to a second pub where we stayed til closing time and even had a snog tee hee!! He then took me home in a taxi. We're off to the cinema tomo night and I'm so excited- I feel like a teenager again!!!

Aww frazzle, that is sooooo lovelyGrin. How did you meet? What did you wear in the end?

I want a date like that EnvyGrinSadBlush

It's very bizarre how we met actually. About 3 weeks ago I had a funny turn at home and my son called 999. This chap was one of the paramedics and I thought he was rather nice. Anyway, he left and i thought no more of it. Anyway, it turned out he knew my sister and he had emailed her on facebook to see if we were related and to ask if it would be ok to add me on facebook. That's how we got chatting!!

For the date I wore a pair of cut off jeans and a silk top. We've seen each other twice since and are off out tomo :-)

Go girl - what a fab way to meet (well, apart from the funny turn which I'm sure was crap). I meant it just sounds like fate. Nest weekend is first anniversary with my bloke and we went out for a meal and talked the whole time too. Someitmes things can actually be good. Which is nice to know. Especially when you're a single mum. Hooray for you!
