I want to go to the seaside...on my own

I've a weeks annual leave coming up, I'm seriously thinking about asking my Dad to look after dc so that I can have a couple of days away to myself. I'm thinking about booking a b & b somewhere by the sea. I know it's selfish.

Get that News of the World offer for hotels at a fiver if it's still going (think it is, just saw advert for it on t'telly)

I don't think a couple of days is selfish and the seaside is a good place to think and re-centre yourself if that doesn't sound too woo Smile.

Some of us must have the sea in our blood and feel the need to 'visit' from time to time. I have to go to the sea at least once/twice a year just to check it is still there, paddle and watch it for hours. It is best to go alone because family want to do other things at the seaside or can't wait to go home.

I do not think you are being selfish at all. You will return home refreshed in body and spirit. Say Hello to the sea for me while you are there please.

that doesn't sound selfish. i have lost count of the number of married couples i know of who do this and there is two of them to take the strain!

if your dad and your dc would be happy - do it!! I just had a week away on my own and ds had his week with gps and we have both returned renewed.

he is only 3 but he seems to have grown up a bit, he had been getting a bit bratty before but since we've been back he has been lovely, really seems to appreciate his Mummy.

and from my pov - lie ins, getting to do what I want, time off, reading books, having a break from domestic routines ....

DO IT DO IT DO IT!!

cestlavielife · 13/09/2010 22:40

just do it and enjoy :)

I spent the evening looking for b & b's, I think I may have missed out on the News of the World offer, you need 2 vouchers. Just got to decide where to go. Pembroke or Scarborough. And I need to ask my Dad. Went to bed thinking about walks on beaches.

GO!!!!!!!!!!!! check late rooms, or premiere inns, they tend to have some fab offers, sometimes hotels are cheaper than B+B..... we all need me time...

Enjoy :o

Go for it. I went to Italy alone last year for 5 years and loved it (was a bit lonely in the evenings but would go on holiday alone again).
Enjoy

Not selfish at all! More like recharging the batteries! :o

If your kids are being looked after, and all is organised at home, go for it!

(I've gone on my own to Cuba for a week's respite, the best thing I ever did!)

It sounds wonderful, hope you go for it and have a lovely, relaxing time :)
