Holidaying for first time as a family

I am about to go on holiday for first time with newish boyfriend and 5 year old daughter-- any idea how to ensure we all get on? He is generally rather commitment-phobic by nature and finds the fact that I have a child pretty difficult, though superficially they get on fine... any advice gratefully received!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I wouldn't bother to have a man who was commitmentphobic and found the fact that I had a child pretty difficult in the house, let alone go on holiday with him.

Ok commitment phobic is a bit of an exag... it's more that he's scared of the whole step-dad thing, not much experience of kids, worried that she resents him etc ( she doesn't)... Am hoping that going on holiday will help him see that she does like him, that holidaying with a kid is fun etc... maybe I'm expecting too much... but then again maybe am expecting too little...
