What are the benefits of voting for the conservative party? I have always voted for the labour party but am thinking of voting for the conservative party, what do you all think?

Well they brought us austerity, Brexit (trashing the economy and leading to the small boats issue), the underfunding and mismanagement of the NHS, dismantled Surestart, increased crime rates whilst decreasing policing and prevention schemes, increased the gap between the rich and poor, privitised the rail, utilities, water and post office leading to literal shit in our seas and cost of living crisis.
They did introduce gay marriage, improve employment rates in parts of the country and did automatic pension enrollment.
If you are wealthy and prefer living in an poorer country they are the party for you.

If you truly have always voted for Labour but now thinking of voting for the Tories I think the heat has got to you!

There is no benefit in voting Tory, IMO unless it's a tactical vote to keep out Reform

Care to expand on your thoughts?

This question is phrased really strangely.

I am unlikely to vote Conservative but I hope they eventually elect an ordinary pragmatic centre-right leader that isn’t obsessed with culture wars and being Reform-lite because I think that would be good for the country/politics in general.

Right now they’re flirting with the nutters and extremists.

From AS it seems as if you're not really a Labour supporter. You think scrapping the Rwanda plan by the Conservatives has made the immigration and social housing 'crisis' (your word) an issue.

Do you have any idea what the different political parties in the UK (not London; not quite sure why you've posted your thread in this topic) stand for?

BIWI · 16/08/2026 17:38

And @GoldBae perhaps you could explain why you're considering voting Tory?

ginasevern · 16/08/2026 18:04

Surely if you're even contemplating such a massive change of opinions and ethics, then only you can answer that. And what do you mean by advantages? Do you mean to society or to yourself? You sound very confused.

I think you get a free pencil if you vote conservative.

I think you should go and read their manifesto rather than relying on random people on the internet to mislead you.
