Cheap theatre tickets

I haven't been to London for years, but I'm visiting soon with my primary school aged children. Are cheap theatre tickets still a thing?? The websites I've looked at seem extortionate for any decent seat. Maybe I'm living in the past, but I'm hoping to find something cheaper than the cost of the return flights! 🤣
Any recommendations?

I got cheaper tickets by booking directly over the phone at the theatre

Try seetickets, sign up for https://officiallondontheatre.com/ for deals and kidsweek.

And the rsc, national theatre and Donmar warehouse offer discounts for young people, even for their productions on other theatres. Dd got £10 seat for Our Neighbour Totoro for example.

Matilda has family tickets where children go half price at some performances.

Look at TodayTix.

If you qualify for Blue Light or Tickets for good (ie NHS etc) then usually lots of cheap tickets on there.

I've done well out of the MasterCard discounts during low season - January to early March. I think they come out in November.

Lots of big shows with reductions, but you have to be quick off the mark for the high profile productions. I've seen lots of things for about £25 a seat, and they were pretty decent seats as well.

We went to see Back to the Future earlier this year. We booked tickets directly on the theatre website for £19 each and were perfectly good seats. It was brilliant!
