Hello I’m due to spend the day in London with my daughter and want to do a nice cream tea ( but not hundreds of pounds) . Anywhere you have been you would recommend ?

Me and DD did an afternoon tea river cruise on the Thames recently. We really enjoyed it.

I’ve had afternoon tea at lots of London venues and in terms of the quality of food, Bread Ahead was way way nicer than anywhere, including the Ritz, and it’s one of the venues that will bring you unlimited amounts of sandwiches. The next best I’ve tried was the Mad Hatter’s afternoon tea at the Sanderson, close to Oxford Street.

Anyone been on the bakery buses? Is that something you'd both enjoy.

Yes and really enjoyed it. It’s very expensive so I used Tesco club card vouchers but the food was actually very good.

Ooh. Please could you tell me a bit more about this?

Hopefully this works! That's their blurb and link to web page. It's actually £30 per person but i think the tip added made me remember it as £35 per person. It was genuinely lovely, and given my daughter is 13 I didn't want to be spending £80 per person as I wasn't sure she'd eat it all. She totally did so no money wasted, it was me that struggled as it was a lot of food.

Served Monday to Saturday, from 2pm to 5pm, pre-book our traditional afternoon tea to enjoy a selection of sandwiches, mini cakes and scones. Plus, if you’d rather, you can swap your tea for a glass of Thienot Champagne.

Thanks @Somanythoughts It's been on my list of possibilities for a long time. My only concern is that DP is a greedy thing and I'd worry that he'd complain there isn't enough food if it isn't one of the 'big' ones that keep bringing you more sandwiches. I might save Dean Street for a trip with dd.
