St Albans, where to avoid?

Hi all,

Sorry, I know it’s not London but couldn’t find a relevant topic title (newbie!).

We are moving to St Albans area. My husband will be working in Rickmansworth area (not travelling at rush hour times), but we want to live somewhere a bit more green, but still with lots to do. I work from home and have two little ones.
Any villages/towns around St Albans (central or south side) you’d recommend or avoid? Lots of affordable houses in the camp area, anyone got experience of how this is?

Thanks 😊

What is your budget and what do you need in a house? E.g 3 bed terrace ok or 5 bed detached?

You say affordable houses as if you don’t want something more on the pricey side (I know St Albans isn’t cheap). If you don’t mind a slightly longer commute, along A5, hop across into Bedfordshire to places such as Markyate, Flamstead, Studham, Whipsnade etc. You’ll get a lot more for your money in these villages.
