Nice hotel in central London

I am looking to stay in central London with my DD for her 18th. It will also coincide with going to Buckingham Palace to collect her Gold D of E on 9 May. Happy travelling around London so not too fussy on location. We normally use Premier Inn so want something a bit more special. I don't mind whether it has a pool or spa, I just want something which will feel special but won't cost the earth for 2 nights. We will be travelling by train. We have been to London loads so haven't yet made plans for what else to do while we are there, happy to have suggestions for this as well! Thanks

Have a look at the Kimpton Fitzroy and see if it’s in your budget. Or give us an indication of budget and date.

We liked Malmaison in Farringdon. Very nice and felt well looked after.

Sea containers is lovely on the south bank opposite St Paul’s.

Athenaeum on Piccadilly is very close to Buck Pal. It’s lovely and yes has a hot tub in the basement. I’ve stayed there a couple of times, really clean and friendly staff.

Thank you all, off to have a Google. The date is in my message, we will stay on the 8th and 9th May as event is on the 9th. Budget is just something not ridiculous but more than I’d pay for a Premier Inn 😂

I do think you need to be more specific about budget - 200 a night? 300 a night? Ridiculous in London is probably over £500 a night. We budgeted £200 a night and that was quite tight.

For work I usually stay at the Waldorf Hilton which is Covent Garden. Feels fancy enough downstairs but not wild expensive (about 300/night but I think I get corp rates). Nearer London bridge and similar price range I quite like the Lalit or the Dixon. You probably won’t get properly fancy without paying £££ in London!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/04/2025 13:44

Tbh I'd probably just stay in a Premier Inn and then blow the budget on a lovely restaurant and/or afternoon tea.

I recently stayed at The Other House in South Ken. Great ‘members’ style hotel with lovely pool area and just a really nice vibe. Tube is just around the corner and we got Ubers into central in 15 mins and was cheap. Very reasonable prices for a trendy, stylish hotel

Corinthia or Park Lane

HolidayHappy123 · 19/04/2025 14:00

Nobu Shoreditch, Marylebone Hotel, Sanderson and St Martin’s Lane are all 5* hotels for under £300. The Mayfair, St Pancras Renaissance, Nobu Portman Square, The Londoner, The W are all between £300-£400. All fun places to stay with a teenager. Get yourself on Booking.com put in your dates and it will come up with every option available to you.

The Hoxton Southwark is gorgeous and about £300 a night or less for your dates. It’s just south of the river on Blackfriars road, an easy walk into the city.

I really like The Resident hotels in London.

We have stayed at both the Covent Garden one and the one in Kensington. The Covent Garden one is in a great location, for your dates it’s £559 for two nights in king room and Kensington is £313 for small double or £414 for superior. They have an Easter sale on atm. You would need to become a member and use the promo code MEMBER. They are great hotels and sometimes not much more than a premier inn.

The Standard in Kings Cross

The Sofitel by St James' Park is my new favourite when I'm in London, it's a perfect location, and the service is excellent.

Landmark Hotel Marylebone

Some great suggestions here, although I suspect the Corinthia will blow your budget.
Hoxton hotels is a mini chain with some great locations. The lobbies are always very buzzy, which makes them feel very London.

QueenOfWeeds · 19/04/2025 15:09

@TailofTwoKitties I had the best massage of my life in their spa several years ago. Highly, highly recommend it.

@Coffeebreakneeds have a look at Marrable’s Hotel in Farringdon. I realise it’s the wrong part of town but 5 mins from the station and easy to get across London. Also easy to get to Shoreditch for fun bars/restaurants.

We love a Leonardo. Stayed at the St Paul's one and had a lovely time
