Commute from Blackheath

Does anyone here commute between Blackheath and central London (King's Cross, Covent Garden etc.)? Do you find it manageable and worth it for the open spaces and community, or does it get soul-crushing?
Our commutes would also involve a 15-minute walk to the train station at both ends... which seems reasonable, but we're wondering if in practice train delays and inclement weather would make it a bit miserable.
Thanks in advance!

Whereabouts in Blackheath and where exactly are your commutes to?
Blackheath station has direct trains to Charing X for west end. Westcombe Park (also SE3 postcode) has direct Thameslink services to Kings X / St Pancras.
Is your walk just after one train or would you need the tube as well?

We're considering the Blackheath Standard area, so not particularly close to any station, but close-ish to several options! We'd use both the Blackheath and Westcombe Park stations for Kings X and the West End respectively, then a straight walk to work post-train.
Where we currently live we've only ever used the tube, so are less familiar with the trains. We're a bit worried about moving to a train-dependent commute, as we hear lots of stories of delays & cancellations.

Look the other side - Granville park, Belmont hill - same distance to Blackheath village as the standard is but make lewisham your station - trains all the time to London Bridge/charing cross/victoria - and the DLR if the trains arnt running (which doesn't happen very often). It's very easy!

Just to add - for King's Cross, train to London Bridge then swap platforms to go to St Pancras on the overground (or you can get the tube)

I have commuted from Westcombe Park / East Greenwich for years and don’t think delays and cancellations a big issue at all. Though I think Thameslink can be more of an issue than south eastern.
one of the advantages of Blackheath Standard area is the many ways you can get home in the event of transport problems. Blackheath line or Westcombe Park line. Tube to North Greenwich and a bus. Lizzie line and a bus. Boat along the river and a walk or bus….

Thank you, this is reassuring and very helpful. (I certainly hadn't thought of the option to add boats into the mix if necessary!)

I forgot the DLR as an option too!
