We are off to London in a few weeks and looking for some nice restaurant recommendations near South Kensington .

The ones I’ve have found as possibilities are
CERU
Grato
Kitchen W8 - but for their lunchtime set menu as more affordable for us.

Anyone been to any of these or have any personal favourites please?

@fitflop

Somewhere I've been planning to go to to when I am next in South Ken is Daquise.

Ceru is lovely. Highly recommended!

I second Daquise; bloody gorgeous restaurant, one of my faves

Are you going to the museums? South Ken is tough for good food because as an area it’s mostly full of tourists and very rich people, neither of which are great for attracting restaurants which are both good and reasonably priced.

Launceston Place is the classic Kensington Restaurant but very expensive and formal - probably not somewhere I would go with children. For a special occasion with a partner, maybe.

If you’re willing to walk 20 minutes south the Pig’s Ear in Chelsea is a beautiful food-led pub with excellent cooking (including pies!). Bluebird on Kings Road is very glam. The Jam also on Kings Road is a little Italian place with a fun gimmick - half the tables are up by the roof and reached by ladders, like on a sleeper train. That might be fun with children or young teens.

We used to like Kitchen W8 but haven't been in ages, so can't give a recent review. The food was excellent but it had a very, sort of sedate, vibe. I really like Yashin, just off Ken High for high end sushi.

If you want to buzz up kensington church street to Notting Hill
Mazi, Suzie Tros, Kuro Eatery and Akub are all excellent, buzzy and (relatively) well priced. Further up in Notting Hill Strakers, Dorian and Gold are excellent.

Thank you all so much!

I will keep a note of all of these for next time.

We are back now and went to the following-:

Scarlett Green - fine but in future we will stick with Cappadocia near Kings cross. Won’t be in a rush to return.

Bloomsbury Kitchen - as it was near our theatre, we had the pre theatre set menu. Nice and would be happy to return.

Grato - was lovely and a nice little restaurant

Kitchen W8 - went for the set menu lunch. It was lovely and would be happy to return at some point.
