Traveling with kids in London

What's the best way to pay for kids aged 12 and 14 on the tube and buses in London?
When DH and I go we just use our contactless cards, but we are taking a friend and her 2 kids next week and aren't sure what the best option is for them.

Young visitor oyster card - you need to get a member of tfl staff to put the discount on Visitor Oyster card - Transport for London (tfl.gov.uk)

you don't need to get it posted
you just need to get a regular blue oyster card and have the tfl staff member add the young visitor discount
