Oh balls!@ I forgot to book tickets for NHM and now there isn't anything until later in the day. It is a Saturday and Summer holidays. Anyway to avoid standing in a massive que with a 2 year old? Sister in law can't make it to us until 11am. Nephew and daughters were really looking forward to seeing the dinosaurs 🤦‍♀️

Try the science museum? Or go to Hyde Park first then dinosaurs in the afternoon?

RantyMcRanterton · 25/07/2024 22:55

Go later in the day, lunch out first. Will likely be quieter mid to late afternoon.

Yes you can buy membership of the nhm and you can walk straight in, no need to queue. Plus you get to use the Anning rooms which are havens for a rest on a busy London day.

LostMySocks · 25/07/2024 23:08

They've just created an outdoor garden complete with bronze dinosaur skeletons.
Would they suffice for a 2 year old? You can just wander through or have a picnic... although am sure all sitting spots will be a bit busy

Haven’t been this year but went last year and walked in without anyone checking our tickets. Might be worth a try just walking in?

ApplesOrangesBananas · 25/07/2024 23:30

If you go to the side exit (as if you’re in front of the museum it’s ok the right hand side) the queue is much much shorter.

or failing that buy a last minute ticket to an exhibition? That lets you skip the queue (separate entrance at front)

ApplesOrangesBananas · 25/07/2024 23:31

Or get there before it opens and wait outside for 5 mins I’m sure you’ll be at the front of the queue

piefacedClique · 25/07/2024 23:32

I’ve always had good luck going in the side entrance rather than the front. Always quicker not sure if you can still do it but always worked for us x

Thank you everyone. We went in the side entrance at about 11am and walked straight in. Kids had a great time
