We moved from a 2 bed maisonette in Shirley to a 3 bed semi in (shock horror!) New Addington, on the Boots estate.
I had 17 happy years there, knew the neighbours, commuted to St Thomas's from Hayes Station.
After my husband died I got into debt and sold up to move somewhere cheaper.
I'd move back in a heart beat but can't afford to.
My Children never got into bother, had nice friends, I never felt unsafe.
2 minutes walk to parkland and woods for dog walking.
Shame about the stigma.

Not sure, they're advertising for volunteers at the local Homestart. I'd love to one day if I can work less hours. This is South Croydon.

Sanderstead, Gravel Hill, Riddlesdown are all lovely.

That’s fantastic if they running homestart again, two of my friends in Croydon who desperately needed homestart (one’s husband broke his leg and she was dealing with a very nasty birth injury) and when she contacted Homestart was told there wasn’t Homestart in Croydon. This was two years again and my other friend three and a bit years ago. She also couldn’t get to the hospital for health ‘visitor’ (a joke because there are no home health visits) because she couldn’t leave the house as she was immobile. She suffered awful PND and PNA because of this.

I’d warn anyone wanting to have babies to do their research before buying/ renting in that areas because of my friends awful experience.

Norbury isn't nice at all ,it has been going worse and worse for the last few years, high street is dirty and run down, full of chicken shops and there are plans to open another mosque

What is wrong with opening a mosque?

Norbury is scruffy, no doubt about it, but has lovely houses at good prices, a very active and friendly community, 2 independent coffee shops, a good independent ‘caff’, a great independent Italian restaurant, an excellent library.

Norbury Hall Park is nice, easy walk through Norbury Park (kids playground) to Norwood Grove etc.

The proposed redeveloping of an old building is not as a mosque but as a wedding / conference centre.

It is also a safe area to walk around. Not crime free, but shop lifting etc is a rising problem everywhere.

To me It's not where in Croydon you live it's where your children would gravitate to as the main town centre when they start going out solo.

I live a couple of miles away and their school is in the opposite direction again so mine go elsewhere.

The only time I go to Croydon now is getting off the bus if I need to go to east Croydon station. I just think it's so run down.

Absolutely this. 20 years ago I loved shopping in Croydon, I went recently and it was seriously nothing like the place I knew. Arrived at East Croydon station and went home via West just so I didn't have to walk back through the high street.

I lived in London for 20+ years and now live 20 mins on the train from Euston so it's not like I don't spend time there and know it well. It really was quite shocking.

I live further out but there are some parts of Kenley I'd love to live in with massive houses.
