To keep this short - I contacted my housing association regarding a management transfer. A panel was formed on the 8/05 and I received the decision in the mail today. It read that I meet the threshold for a transfer but unfortunately they can't offer me suitable accommodation within their six month transfer policy as they don't have any properties available.
To give context I had approached my local council before going through the management transfer process and was told that I had a suitable property and my case was closed.
My reason for a management transfer was to avoid going into a refuge. My son 8mo is on a CIN plan because of DV from ex husband. I have been told that it's unsafe for me to remain in my property. The last altercation resulted in my ex husband physically attacking my 20yo daughter.
What do I do next? I'm currently staying at my friend's house, she lives in a one bedroom flat and it's tight.
I've approached my local council and they have refused to support me, I've approached my housing association and they are saying I meet the threshold yet they don't have any properties.
I know my options are limited and a refuge is what will be offered next. The problem is I work full time, I have a secured tenancy and that will have to be sacrificed if I move into a refuge. I have spoken to them on the phone and they have advised me to leave my job as it's a risk, plus housing benefit wouldn't cover my rent and believe it or not the rent is diabolical. One refuge was charging £360 a week!
The financial stain not to mention the anxiety of where me and my son would end up scares me greatly.
Most of you will say it's my safety that's a priority and I completely agree, I just can't help but feel like I'm sacrificing so much because of someone else's behaviour.
Can I challenge my housing association on this, how is it possible to meet the threshold yet they can't help to relocate me.
My housing association is Network Homes, they have new developments all over London I struggle to see who they don't have any properties available.
