Hi Everyone, Greetings from east London.
My husband and I are looking to relocate to the Toddington/Twickenham area and I was hoping I could ask a few questions on here, as we have always found this website and its members' contributions valid and helpful.
I will have to commute into Waterloo most of the week, and then either take the tube or walk into work. Are trains very frequent and reliable? Is there a town you'd recommend which is close enough but also quiet enough?
Coming from the business of the East End, we were amazed at how quiet Toddington is. It also felt very safe and welcoming. As this is exactly the kind of feeling we are looking for, would you say that there are other areas nearby which perhaps may be a tad closer to London but also affordable? We would love of course a few restaurants and pubs and a villagey kind of vibe, but green and nice locals are important for us as well. We have a small dog and where we are now, people don't really like dogs and so we want an area where the community spirit is strong and fair. We are going to Twickenham soon and have visited Kingston, although we did find it a bit too similar to where we are. It is a shame as the rents here seem to be more affordable, and I wonder if there are quieter bits around it.
I thank you all for taking the time to read my long post and I welcome any advise you may feel like sharing.
With Gratitude,
