Start Well public consultation

North Central London NHS Integrated Care Board is consulting the public on plans to change where maternity and neonatal services and surgical care for small children are provided in locally.

These proposals have been developed because of falling birth rates and the care needed during and after birth becoming more complex.

The plans would see four obstetric-led birth units, each with a midwife-led unit located alongside, instead of the current five. Home birth services would continue across North Central London.

So, proposals include the option of closing maternity and neonatal services at Whittington Hospital, whilst the preferred option set out in the consultation is that they should close on the Royal-Free Hospital site.

It is important that everyone has their say on these proposals – especially mums who have had their babies or received maternity care at Whittington Hospital or Royal Free!

You can read more details about the proposals by clicking here and complete the consultation survey here before the consultation deadline (on 17 March).
