Where to move?

Hi, we are a family of two dads and a little 4yo boy. We live in west London in a predominantly Asian area where we now feel a bit cut out culturally. Being same sex I also fear our son might encounter some resistance by some of his classmates families. We are looking at moving but I am rather overwhelmed. We would love a three bed house in a nice area, with some shops and good schools, and our budget is around £650k. Ideally in west/south west London but open to possibilities, as long as it is an easy commute into central London, especially at night as my husband finishes work around midnight and needs to come back. Any suggestions? Thanks 😊

You could try Tooting or Colliers Wood

For example

3 bedroom town house for sale in Castle Mews, Graveney Road, London, SW17 (rightmove.co.uk) this is just over budget, but guessing by the name it'll put you close enough to one of the best secondaries in London

DD and partner (DINKYs) looking to move out to buy 2bed flat in Chingford or Walthamstow max 325k . Interested in art , theatre history , walks , food and drink . Advice please on places / streets to target /avoid . Is one place better than the other ? TIA

Walthamstow definitely better than Chingford, if they can afford it. Trendier, and better transport. Chingford pretends to be London, but doesn't cut it. Otherwise try Buckhurst Hill, Essex.
Sorry, unfamiliar with West London.

OK, a bit over budget, but West Hampstead is a thoroughly enlightened area where I lived for many years. Would happily move back if circumstances were different.

There are other cheaper places in the area.

Check out this 3 bedroom apartment for sale on Rightmove

3 bedroom apartment for sale in Cumberland Mansions, West End Lane, London, NW6 for £700,000. Marketed by Hamptons, West Hampstead

OP If you would consider north east South Woodford could be a good option.

@Georgiepud @Yaffle97 Chingford vs Walthamstow is very much a matter of personal taste. Personally I think Walthamstow is overrated and pretty rough.

Chingford is great for walking, has a lot of good restaurants and feels much safer. But some people prefer gritty and trendy with more of an arty scene.

For Chingford, North Chingford is the nice bit, up round the station. Personally I wouldn't live in the Hatch or the Mount.

A big drawback of Chingford is no tube, although the Overground is great and you always get a seat, so it depends where they are commuting to.

Try Furzedown. Good schools and transport links. Very friendly and inclusive. You’d love it!
